DURATION:

DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE:
Goats and donkeys are very common animals in the Kaffrine Region, both in rural and urban areas. These animals are not considered as valuable as bovines and horses and are usually assigned to vulnerable social groups. Their production potential (goat’s milk) is also neglected, as well as sanitary and ethical measures for their transportation and their use in agriculture (donkeys), with negative consequences from a cultural, economic and social standpoint.
This project aims to contribute to the improvement of the local economy by increasing milk production. To this end, donkeys will be included in the production chain and other innovative and nonconformist ideas will be put forth to demonstrate that the productive potential of both species, if properly managed and organized, can be a source of income for disadvantaged population groups as well as offer indirect advantages in terms of nutrition, economy and sustainable development for larger portions of the population.
